Ohhhh Texas

Hi Family,
How is everyone doing? I hope it is G.R.E.A.T. I am doing wonderful. These weeks are flying. I can't believe it is almost march. We had a great week here. I am getting used to my surroundings so I don't need to use the GPS only if we are going somewhere I haven't been before. It is nice because then I am not always wondering where we are. It has been a bit of an adjustment trying to figure out it all. haha :)
The week of the Aminals. I can't remember if that is how you spell that but yeah. We had a few funny stories with animals this week, so I'll tell you those.
I wish we could at least have a fish in our appartment but we can't sadly. We do want to get one though! This week we were knocking in a trailer park one day and this pretty little cat started to follow us. He would come and we would knock and no one was answering and then he would follow us to the next house. He was just sitting right in the middle of Hermana Gutierrez and I. He would just look at the door and just wait. When they didn't answer he would just look around and then we would leave and so would he. He followed us through about 9 doors. Too people opened and he was just all cute. One of them we got a return appointment! I think it was because of the little cat! haha.  His name is Hildalgo...Well that is what we named him. :)
Today, we were walking out of our apartment and Hermana Gutierrez saw a little snake. I just grabbed him after making sure he wasn't going to bite me and we took some pictures and I almost took him with me but then I decided not to. Hermana Gutierrez was a bit scared cause she was like ahhh what if he gets you. I told her to hold him and she liked him a lot. She named him Ruppert. I don't know what it is with all of her crazy names. He then returned to the grass.
We found a few more people this week. We have some people who are quite soild, which is awesome! We have been trying to get at least 12 people/families in our teaching pool. Sister Pingree told us that on her mission they tried to keep that and that they were able to baptize monthly. We have about 6 solidish people right now which isn't terrible but we need a few more. We hopefully will get some of our potentials to become solid this week!
I learned how to make Tamales this week. Well sorta. I can half make them. I think I could do it though. We helped one of our investigators Catalina make them. She was going to cancel on us at her doorstep because she was making them and then Hermana Gutierrez said ohhh can we help you please and she was a little unsure but then let us in and we got them done really quick and I think normally it takes a long time because there are a lot of steps. It was fun because she got to just chat with us and we did all the cutting of the vegetables and meat. The raw meat was SOOOO NASTY but I cut it. :) I think she opened up a bit because we were willing to help her out.
We had another awesome lesson with Alex and Brenda last night. I don't remember if I told you but Alex is super good at the guitar and he played for his church. Yes...played. They left their church cause of some bickering that was going on or something. We were a little excited to hear that cause now...they can come to our church! :) But anyways they sing songs together. The songs are about Jesus and Heavenly Father and are actually really good. I love listening to him play. He always plays something for us. We talked about the Book of Mormon again last night and we read a bit out of it. They were asking more questions about Joseph Smith. We were inviting them to pray about Joseph and Alex just started laughing and put his head down. I said what alex and he told me I just know he was a prophet because I can feel of the purity. I don't feel anything false. He said I can just feel it. He was motioning around his chest and heart when he was saying this. I think he is accepting of the book of mormon too as scripture. :) We were excited. They are doing great. I think we need to explain to them a little bit more about authority because I don't know if they realize that this is the ONLY church with the authority but it is okay. Paso por paso.
We had a neat little experience with knocking. A lady let us in and her kids were SOOO cute. They were talking to us as we were teaching a little message about Jesus Christ. We sang I am a child of God for them and the little girl  - Stormee - stands up and puts her arms around Hermana Gutierrez and I and says You are my New Best Friends. :) She kept telling us funny stuff. The little boy said I really like your earrings to me and the mom said Mikey no Flirting and then he shruggs his shoulders and said Ohhh Mom I just being nice! haha He also said I know who Jesus is and I said who is he and he said he went on the cross to save our souls! I was impressed because he is only six. We are giving the referral to the english sisters because they are english speaking. There was just a sweet little spirit in there home. She told us that she needed to find a church too. All these people are prepared to be taught the gospel. Elder Ballard, when he came kept saying, The Lord is Hastening His Work. I believe that statement. He really is and all we got to do is find them and teach them...It is the members who need to help find them too though. So Be on your toes looking for missionary oppurtunities!
Our other investigators are doing pretty good. A lot of them are busy at first but then after they get to know you they let you come back faster. We are in the beginning stages with this group but we are doing our best to help them come along. I really love being a missionary. I know I say that all the time but it is so true. It is just so fun. We get to help people all the time and we get to share a special message all the time. When I begin to think about the things we do it is sooo weird that we go talk to strangers and even stranger that they just let us in their home and let us teach them but it really is because of Heavenly Father preparing them.
Randomly it will start raining really hard and so I finally broke down and bought boots. I couldn't wait. They are the exact same rain boots as Hermana Gutierrez but they were cute and she was like yay!! we can be matching and they were only 18 dollars originally 34.99 soooo i did. They will be very useful. It has been really nice weather but from what we hear it is supposed to gett a little chilly again.
I know i am probably missing some awesome stories but I can't remember right now. I try to write down things to tell you all during the week of neat little experiences but i didn't this week soooo these are from what I remembered this morning!  :) I love you all a lot a lot and I hope you are all doing fantastic! I hope you all have a super deee duper week and I will talk to you sooooon. Happy March too.
I loved this in my scritpure reading. Matthew 4: 18-22
18 ¶And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were afishers. 19 And he saith unto them, aFollow me, and I will make you bfishers of men.
20 And they straightway left their nets, and afollowed him.
21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of aZebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he bcalled them.
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
It makes me think, if Jesus called me to do something would I drop my stuff and leave. If there was someone I needed to serve would I just do what he would do. The Bible is a beautiful thing. I started the bible. I am going to read it this year.

Wow...this totally amazes me that she is holding a snake!  The girl that would not come within 10 feet of a little creature of this kind!!!

Just a little side note for you all. In Kynsie's email she states, "The week of Aminals". This is not an error!  As a little girl, I would read her a book called "The Aminal" by Lorna Balian. Cutest Book EVER!!! Read it if you have a minute...you will love it just like Kynsie did and remember it forever!!!

Happy Double P-Day. Preparation and Presidents.

Hello Family,
Hope all is well in Provo. It sounds like you all had a great week. I just got your email! :) Thanks for writing it. I loved reading it. It was an awesome week here in tomball texas! our area is really bit it goes down in to spring and up to magnolia. I got a bunch of your mail yesterday. The aps brought it to me at church from my other apartment. I had five letters. It was a ton. I also had a few pictures from Giselle and Madison Becerra my old little investigators. They are so cute! I am going to try to send a bunch of pictures today but we will see how much time I have. Let me know if there is anything I can do for Jeness. I hope that she is feeling okay. I will keep her in my prayers.
A funny little story. The more I sleep with people in my room the more I find out how much I talk in my sleep. Hna Gutierrez told me that I was straight up teaching a lesson in Spanish the other night in my sleep and i was asking if the person would say a prayer and explaining some other stuff. She told me I was really close to waking you up because I thought man that has got to be exhausting. She isn't even resting when it is time to rest! haha. :) I am at least glad it was in Spanish and that I was at least practicing that! She is really fun to live with. We are always laughing and having a good time. I am glad that I have companions that can just laugh at my craziness and don't think i am too psycho! haha
We had a great week because we got to see a bunch of little miracles and we have 7 new investigators to teach! Woo Hoo :) We had been praying a lot to find some people and Heavenly Father blessed us a lot. I was so happy. I just want to share a few little things.
We were going to contact a old investigator that some missionaries were teaching. We parked the car and we were walking down the road. We saw this lady and just said hello. She was trying to weed her garden. We asked if she needed help. She said yes please. She has something wrong and can't stand or anything so it is rough for her to take care of her yard. We got it cleaned up really quick we started to talk to her and ended up teaching her about our church. She said that she kept looking at our car and was like I feel like I need to talk to those two girls. She is now taking the lessons from the sisters who are English! It was so neat that the Lord directed her in our path and that she felt before we were even out of the car that she needed to talk to us. Her name is Nanette. Hna Gutierrez can't remember names very well and she was praying and she said...and Please bless our new friend Nutella. I said Nanette and she was like Yeah yeah, You know who I mean!  :) haha We know what was on her mind! Just kidding. She always is like who is that person.
We went to contact a different reference another night and this gentleman was walking down the road. I just told him hello and Hna Gutierrez asked if we could give him a card. He said oh yes, I love reading those things. She said oh well I will give you a book then! So we gave him the book of Mormon. He said are you all hungry? We had just eaten but we told him yes! haha He invited us over to his house because they were having a party for his grandson who had just got baptized in the catholic church that day. I was laughing at the situation. "Baptists at our BBQ" Or Mormons...we sang a hymn for them and got a return appointment. It was neat. It is going to be a wonderful day when they are telling their conversion story about how they met the Mormons!

Yesterday we had stake conference. It was really a nice conference. It was for 77 stakes or something in Texas, Mexico and Oklahoma. Dad were you over that or your team? Elder Scott, Eyring and Elder Piper? and Sister stevens spoke. It was in Spanish for us but I still really enjoyed it. If you were over it can you get me a copy of those talks in English? :) I love how bold elder scott is about how women need to have respect for themselves and how men need to respect them. I love the power and authority you can feel behind those men!
Last night we had an awesome lesson with Alex and Brenda. We watched the restoration movie and we talked about the book of Mormon. They are evangelicals and very involved in their church. They always go to church but we went yesterday and asked them how church was and they said that they didn't go. Alex told us that he has been wanting to go and they said that they should. They were both looking at us and then it clicked. They were not talking about their church but our church. We were like OHHHH yes yes come please. Alex said that he wants to go to gain the experience. When we were talking about the book of Mormon, Brenda talked about how we shouldn't add more to the bible. Alex said but the bible was changed and how are we going to know if this is the word of God if we don't read and study it. He has been thinking about it and the Holy Ghost is teaching him. They both committed to reading it. They are so special. It is amazing to me that I can love them so much with only knowing them for about a week and a half.
We are also working with less actives in this ward. I think we are making some wonderful progress with 3 of them. We found out some of the reasons why they stopped so we are now able to focus more on helping them over come them. It was a awesome week and I could see Heavenly Fathers hand through out it!
I love this little story from the bible in Luke 10:38-42
38 ¶Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named aMartha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art acareful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath achosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Choose the Good part! Remember who you are and to whom you belong to.
Love you lots and lots and lots! :) Off finding the 10s of 1000s.

The Week Of LOVE

Hello my LOVEly Family!!!

It has been a week to say the least. Lots of crazy things happened this week and I definitely thought I was going to die but i didn't. woo hoo! :) First though I want to tell you thank you for all your letters and notes through email I love them so much. I am glad the thing got to you on Saturday. I was going to send it to grandma but I thought it was going to Kylee and so I wanted her to be able to get it and have it addressed to her. I hope it was okay. Thanks for the pictures. She is so beautiful! My little lady! :)

On Tuesday night I found out that I was getting transferred. Crazy! I really didn't think I was going to but its okay because Heavenly Father knows how the work should be done. I felt peace about it so it was right. I know that I will see those special people again and I really enjoyed my time with Houston Seis. Lilly was so sad when I was leaving. She said why didn't you come to me sooner? She said I don't know but I just love you so much and I have only known you for like a month. She said I just can feel your spirit so strong. I left her a letter with my testimony of this gospel. She is a special lady. :)

We went to the Santiallans and I told them and Hno Jose was like NOOOOOOO! Not another one! :) haha. We had invited Randell to pray to know what church he needed to join because he had been going to one with one of his mom's friends and he was giving me a hug goodbye and he just started crying. I told him to keep reading the book of mormon and to pray and I said Randell did you pray to know what one was right and he said Yes, and he said its this one. He is so special. He is only 11 but he can feel the spirit so strong and he is so diligent in reading and praying. It is special.  I love that family so much.

I was able to say goodbye to a few more people as well and it was a sweet experience. All of them are told me to keep in touch and that when they are in Utah they know who they are coming to see. Such a wonderful ward and people. I am so grateful I got to spend my first 4 months in that area! :)

Wednesday was Hna Koerner's Birthday. I made her Chocolate chip Pancakes and we went with our district to Lunch at Arrandas - mexican food. INCREDIBLE. It was fun to do a few things for her as well as do all our appointments and things. Transfers was Thursday Morning. I got all done packing and everything and we went to bed. BEWARE!!!!  At 12:30 I woke up knowing I was going to be sick. Yup. Throw up sick. I ran to the bathroom and barely made it there. I came out and Hna Koerner went running in. The rest of the night was like that for us. We were both soooo sick. I think I threw up 5-6 times. I got in the shower at like 1:30 and then in the middle of my shower I had to get out and take a trip to the toilet to throw up again. It was miserable. We got food poisoning from bad pasta and sauce we made for dinner to use from our cupboard. It was sooo bad. At 6:30 in the morning we were both laying in bed awake and still very sick. Hna Koerner is training though so she needed to go to the meeting and I needed to go to my new area. We rolled out of bed and prayed together that we would be able to get ready and go. We made it and containers for "just in case sickness" in the car and sprites in hand we drove to transfer meeting. I felt so awful all day and after we got all my stuff in the car and went to my new area I went to sleep for a few hours. I guess Hna Koerner ended up having to lay on the floor cause she was sick again at training. Poor Dear. President Pingree was like you go get some rest to me and then to Hna Koerner too when they left the meeting. I basically had only eaten toast and gatoraide until last night. I think i will not be eating that food for a LONG time! haha :)

I have a new companion and a new area!!! :) My new companion is Hermana Guiterez.  She is from California. My new area is in TomBall/Magnolia area and it is called Oak Crest. We are both clean freaks. She is more than me though but we are an awesome pair if I do say so myself!  :) She has only been here for one transfer more than me and basically has no sense of direction...haha Sooo I am driving again and she has NO IDEA where anything is. NOTHING. The first few days were a bit stressful cause I had no idea where I was and neither did she. Thank Goodness for Hna Rivera and her precious gift of that TOM TOM or I would be in TROUBLE. I feel like we are whitewashing because we have no one to teach really and neither of us are familiar with the area. Soo yeah. :) Fun times. We have been trying to get stuff in order and figure out where our area is and get stuff ready. I think this week is going to be more successful than this weekend of running around here and there and all over. We did go to church yesterday. We have a branch and from yesterday it seems like everyone is awesome and that I am going to love them just like Houston Seis.  Last night after church and an appointment we stopped by a member for dinner. (we have church at 3 pm to 6 - basically I will never complain about 1 o'clock church again! haha ) Their names are the Arrodondos. They are a wonderful family and live in a mansion house. BEAUTIFUL. They are super educated. They both speak spanish and english and Hno Arrdondo is super talented with woodworking and the piano. They have a grand piano. THEY HAVE A GRAND PIANO. I haven't seen one of those in 6 months. He told me that he is going to invite us over another day and that we can play. Hna Rife + this = happy missionary :) I won't waste time though we will go on a p-day or play when during our dinner appointment or something so we aren't wasting missionary time. :) They have a son who lives super close by us in provo. They are going in May and said that they would maybe see you all. sooo just a heads up! :)

Our apartment is ....bigger than my other one but it was nasty. I guess it was a lot worse when Hna Guitierez arrived last transfer. Elders have lived in it and missionaries have lived in it for like the last 5 years. It was a mess and sooo filthy. I didn't even want to sit or walk around or do anything. We have been throwing out tons of stuff that is just junk from other missionaries for the last few days. This morning all morning we cleaned and cleaned and scrubbed and did a bunch of work to try to help it.  The crown molding had so much dust and grime. The corners of the carpet. ahhh. I had to sweep them out with a broom and vacum as well as scrub the bathroom and the walls and the crown molding. ahhhh so yucky. It looks really nice now but man it was terrible. I was thinking sisters have lived in here for at least the last 7 ish months so wow how were they living like this?!? We have a beautiful balcony though and a really pretty look out. It has a lot of natural light and so I think now it will be good. It is nice that both of us were like okay this needs a big make over. I can actually live there in peace now. I couldn't even focus during studies because it was just so gross. I didn't want to put my feet on the carpet or anything. We live right by the fire station and we go to service over there so that will be fun.

Well. I feel like we are starting square one. I think that it will be a good learning experience for me. I am excited for this challenge and this week. We are going to go out and find a lot this week to see if we can get some people who are really interested in learning. We are also going to work a lot with the less actives because we sure have a list of them in this branch. It is going to be great though. I know there are people here waiting for us to receive this gospel. I just love this gospel and I am excited to share it will the people in this new area. I know that Heavenly Father loves each and every one of his children and that we just have to find them and help them.

The Last thing. As this is the week of Love or something like that. I just wanted to share a scripture with you all. Moroni 7:45-48

"And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail— But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen."

The type of love that we want to have is this pure love of Christ. I love this scripture because it just covers every aspect of Love and Charity. We need to be filled with this love for others around us. Our president of our branch is President Bonilla. Yesterday was Branch Conference.  He talked about how we need to always look for the good in others in our families and relationships instead of looking for the bad. I know that we we can always find bad but I know that if we look for the good we can always find that too so why not look for something good and uplifting in order to have that pure love of Christ. I know too that if we pray for it just like it says in that scripture that God will help us to develop it and help us to have that special ability to see as Christ and God would see and to love unconditionally like they love us.

I hope you know how much I love each of you. I pray for your safety and success daily. You are all such special people to be and I am so glad that I got lucky enough to be in this family! :) I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Hey, Hi, Howdy!

Hi Family,

How are you all doing? Well Since everyone was kinda asking me about my migraines I guess I'll save that for next week to help everyone learn patience! Do you think you all are okay with that? :)

This week I had the opportunity of attending Zone Council Meeting. It was so awesome. All of the zone leaders and about 4 companionship's of sisters attend once a month. This is my second time going. The AP's and President Pingree present the themes and Ideas for district and zone meeting for the month and we have a training and then after we get to eat lunch at the mission home. It was so wonderful and so needed. It gave me a wonderful burst of energy and excitement for the work. It was inspiring for me to be always working to be a better person and missionary.

A lot of what we focused on was praying in faith. It was a wonderful topic. We talked about many stories from the book of mormon and bible about people who prayed in faith. President Pingree talked about how all of us need to have powerful prayers. Elder oaks said a quote that said something to this effect that without faith our prayers are just words, with faith our prayers connect to the powers of heaven. We also have to be willing to act. Without our willingness to act on the answer we receive Heavenly Father isn't going to answer us. When Joseph Smith prayed he didn't pray to know what church was right but which church to join. He went in to that prayer saying he was going to act on the answer he received. I love the Aps (Elder Pliego and Kauo) as well as President Pingree. My spirit was so energized when we left. It was wonderful to be filled with the spirit and filled by sister pingrees home cooked food! :) While the elders like 20 ish of them were getting their food all their shoes were at the door. They are all black dress shoes so we may or may not have grabbed one and moved it with a different one. It was really funny. They still don't know it was us! :) They were like how did my shoe get all the way over here and where is my shoe! :) haha Funny funny There are some really good missionaries in our mission. I love talking to them and getting to hear their stories.

Hermana Flat Kylee hung out with us all week. It was fun that she could celebrate my 6 month mark with me! ;) haha I am going to be sending her home in the mail this week with the girls letters. I hope the pictures are okay and my letter is too.

Well our car had a little problem this week. So we took it to the shop and elder ohern our senior car missionary came and got us with his wife at the shop. He said well i am going to spoil you sisters and let you drive the nicest car we have. 2013 ford fusion. It had 17 miles on it. He called us like 2 hours later and told us that he asked president pingree and he said we can keep it because ours was needing to be retired. It was my 6 month mark, and this week is hermana koerner's birthday and her 9 month mark so we were like HAPPY CELEBRATIONS to us! :) I was also told that i will have sinned the unpardonable sin if I crash it so i have been praying to be safe and being very careful! I am the driver but who knows if it will be the same this transfer. It is transfers this week.

We had a busy week. Full of lots of lessons and wonderful things but I am running a few minutes short on time. We were able to get 5 investigators to church. We also reactivated one of the women in our ward! We were so excited! :) We didn't know if lilly was going to be able to come. We stopped by her house and she said I am getting dressed and I'll be there so don't worry about me! We were soooo excited! She loved it! She was crying and felt the spirit. She also brought one of her friends and she lives in our area. Our investigators are sharing with their friends! What a blessing! Lilly is so special. She always tells us that we were sent by God and we are her angels. The other day we gave her the baptismal commitment and she said of course i'll get baptized if I get my answer!! She had been reading the book of mormon and praying so i know she will be converted. The santiallans finally came to church again! We were so happy to have them there. The Bercerras are progressing along. Their prayers are changing and they are learning a lot. The other day Maria could really feel the spirit.  It is amazing what reading praying and going to church does for a person. By small and simple things... great things come to pass! We have a goal in the mission to baptize 100 people and reactivate 100 people by April 30th so we are all trying to participate in that great work. That is enough to create a small ward in Houston!

Honestly, I am so touched almost every single day. I am overwhelmed with gratitude at times that I am lucky enough to be able to be experiencing all of these wonderful things. I love this work. We had a wonderful little miracle yesterday. We went through our ward list to find the less actives and inactive's with our ward council. There was a family that no one knew and they lived in our area. The bishop asked that we check to see if they still live there. Yesterday night, our appointments were canceling on us. We were trying to think of things to do or who we could visit. It was  like a blank and then I remembered that one of them lived pretty close. We went to the house and a man opened. We asked if he was Ulyisses and lived there. He said that it was him. He asked if we could come in and we went in. We started talking to him and his wife and their little daughter. We asked how long they had been members as well as their story. We found out he had been a member for a while but that she wasn't. We ended up sharing a scripture and talking to them for a few minutes and then getting a return appointment with the wife, the nonmember. We have been praying for people to reactivate and investigators to help to meet our goal. We found both! It was awesome that we were able to see them. :) They seem like wonderful people.

Okay, I guess I won't make you be too patient! :)  as for the migraines. I'll write home about it more but for the last 3 weeks I have been having more migraines and I am not sure why but it hasn't been fun. 2 days in a row I woke up at 4 in the morning with one and i ended up having to get in the shower to stop shivering and then i ended up throwing up but its okay. We were still able to go out to work on time. It just isn't fun cause I am super sensitive to light and feel weak all day. I have been taking care of myself though so don't worry. I talked to the doctor and he said he was going to try to prescribe me this medicine but then he gave me some other things to try first. In all honesty..I don't know if it will help because it is relaxation excercises but I am trying to do what he is asking. It is a bit hard because I know my history with them and so I wish i would have just got something when Dr. Carn asked me if i wanted a different medicine, but i will do what he asks and hopefully Heavenly Father will help me. I haven't had one for 5 days so that is good.

I hope you all have a wonderful week. I love this work. It is so special and I feel like I am learning so much from being out here. I hope everyone is reading the book of mormon. I know it is the word of God and that it can really help people to have the strong foundation they need in order to grow and improve and stay strong during trials and hardships. I also am gaining a very strong testimony of how much Heavenly Father loves his children. He is always wanting to bless us and we just have to be obedient and look for the blessing he is giving us. I love you all a lot and I pray for you every night and day! Keep being the best you can because you belong to someone really important. Make sure to always represent him well!

I'm off to find those 10's of Thousands!
Love You Little Texan Missionary,
